Try doing the following to resolve the issue:

Method 1. Press the Physical Button on the Television

All TVs (smart and traditional) have physical switches either on the top, side or bottom of the body. You’re likely to find a panel of switches from which you can navigate up or down, left and right. You can also control the volume and adjust the brightness directly from these physical switches.

Method 2. Use a Universal Remote App

The third-party remote app is designed to work with multiple popular streaming devices from Roku, Samsung, LG, Amazon, Sony, Vizio, Hisense and TCL, making it easy to control these devices even without a remote.

Recently, Roku updated its default settings, which may block mobile apps from connecting to the device. Please follow these steps using your Roku remote to fix the issue:

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings.
  3. Select Control by mobile apps.
  4. Select Network Access, then choose Enabled or Permissive to allow mobile apps to connect.
  5. Press OK to save your settings.

Your Roku TV is now ready to be controlled by mobile apps!

The first time that you use the TV Remote app on your iPhone, your Samsung will ask you whether it should accept incoming connections.

Select "Allow" and the TV Remote from your iPhone to your Samsung TV will start.

If you have selected "Deny" by mistake, there is an easy way to fix it:

Samsung TVs from 2012 to 2014 (E, F, H Models):

First go (on your Samsung TVs) to Network / Allshare Settings / Content Sharing, then select the device with "Denied" next to it. Click it and change it to allow. Then start the mirroring again from your Mac.

Samsung TVs from 2015 to 2016 (J and K Models):

Go to (on your Samsung TV) to Network / Multimedia Device Manager, select the device with "Denied" and select allow. Then start mirroring again from your Mac.
